Data Import Map Overview & APWPs Magnetostratigraphy Settings

Paleomagnetism.org 2 - Geography

Data from the Paleomagnetism .col format can be imported to the Geography portal. Each selected file and group will be associated with a new selectable collection. An alternative example of the default input file can be found here.

Paleomagnetism.org 2 - Magnetostratigraphy

The Magnetostratigraphy tool will plot declination & inclination versus stratigraphic level. The polarity is determined by coloring reversed directions with a negative inclination black midway between two adjacent points.

Geography - Map Overview & APWPs

This map overview illustrates vertical-axis rotations for the selected sites including confidence parachutes (ΔDx). Declinations, inclinations, paleolatitudes, and apparent polar wander paths can be plotted for major plates.

Tip! You can create your own APWPs using APWP-Online by Vaes et al., 2023.
